Briton Ferry Llansawel will meet The New Saints in the Bute Energy U16s Cup Final. The Saints secured their spot with a convincing 7-0 win over Barry Town United at Jenner Park on Sunday afternoon. The Saints took firm control of the tie with five goals in a blistering final 13 minutes of the first half. Erin Barton and Evie Wigley both scored twice, before Lilly Garrett added her name to the scoresheet. Garrett made it a brace for herself early in the second period, while Ella Breese rounded off the scoring late on as the Saints reached the final in impressive fashion. It follows a pair of 8-0 away wins for TNS against NFA and Rhyl 1879 in the Bute Energy U16s Cup this season, and sees them banish the memories of last year’s Semi-Final defeat against eventual cup winners Pontypridd United. Swansea City and Briton Ferry Llansawel were scheduled to meet in Sunday’s other Semi-Final, but with the Swans unable to field a team they forfeited their place in the competition – sending Ferry straight through to the Final. The New Saints and Briton Ferry Llansawel will meet in the Bute Energy U16s Cup Final on Sunday 3 May, with a neutral venue to be confirmed in due course.
